Introduction
Words can have serious consequences. Throughout Scripture, people made vows, promises, oaths, and declarations before God and before others. The Bible therefore teaches us to be careful with our words.
Some people may also have made foolish, ungodly, or destructive promises in moments of fear, anger, ignorance, pressure, or deception. Others may struggle with words or commitments from their past that continue to trouble their conscience.
The answer is not fear. The answer is to turn completely to God, repent where necessary, renounce what is ungodly, and stand firmly upon the finished work of Jesus Christ.
